Filming in the Banks Peninsula New Zealand

Violent volcanic upheaval created this breathtaking region featuring beautiful sub tropical environs, ancient rainforests, tranquil harbours and bays. Heavily influenced by the French settlers in the 1800's the Akaroa harbour town is truly romantic.

The industrious port town of Lyttelton was used to portray the small North American township of 'Fairwater' for Peter Jackson's ghostly comedy "The Frighteners".
